4-block

Monkey Wrench Pattern

Monkey Wrench Block PatternThis monkey wrench quilt block (also known as “Snail’s Trail”) isn’t hard to make, as it contains only four pieces in each block; but, each “monkey wrench” block must be turned at a certain angle, one way in a row with light squares and then turned further around in the next row with darker squares. If you make your squares at 10″, a top that is 70″ x 80″ plus a 2″ border of each of the two colors, this will bring the size to 78″ x 88″. You will need about 4.5 yards of each color material for this size. You can see how the block at left is “turned” to make a full-sized monkey wrench quilt. That page will contain a link that will bring you back to this post.
