If you attended the “Road to California” show, then you possibly viewed the eight Katrina quilts that were displayed there. Gina Halladay saw the quilts and she shares her thoughts and photos on these “Katrina Story Quilts.” The images were created by first, second and third grade children who were displaced by the hurricane. Ocean Springs quilter Peggy Guyton then scanned and printed the images on fabric one by one. Quilter Sandy Tully, and quilters from Janet’s Quilting Bee, SandStitchers of Biloxi and Ocean Wave Quilters assembled the remaining four quilts. Completed story quilts were initially displayed at each participating school. Halladay also includes some great links in her story. Visit the site to learn more.
